These tender rays of sunshine are giving us hope that Spring is not far away! We’re ready for warmer, brighter days and we’ve seen some great trends come through that have us excited for our new spring ranges. We teamed up with Godfrey Hirst and Resene for our Spring shoot, who brought some fantastic flooring and paint options along.

While it’s quite impractical to re-do your house with every season, there are small things you can do to give it a fresh feel. Natural colours and textures are everywhere with gorgeous linens, chunky knitted throws, and textured dinnerware. How you feel in your home has never been more important. A comfy sofa with cushions and throws in natural fabrics can make you feel grounded and calm.

Think about your home like you do your wardrobe. Store some of your wintery items away for next season, then when winter rolls around again it’s like Christmas pulling them all out of storage. Put those throws away! Who says they need to stay on the couch all year round? Small storage is easy with some baskets or small shelves. And nothing is easier as a seasonal refresh than swapping out cushions and throws.

Wood is always a great choice – either in furniture pieces or as a feature wall. We’ve used the combination of Godfrey Hirst Southern Oak flooring with Resene Colourwood light grey wash on particle board to lighten the space and allow the darker tones of the furniture to be the feature.

Get creative with your space and add some personality with wallpaper. We’ve added some excitement with this wallpaper from the Resene Utopia Collection. With many of us still working from home at times, it’s so important to allow your home to accommodate everything you expect from it. Moveable furniture pieces like armchairs, tables or cabinets (Ivy lockers!) are a great option to move between kids rooms, office space, living areas. And just for something different – flip that lounge around! Sit closer to the fireplace or in the cooler months and move into the sun peeking through the window in spring. It’s amazing how moving your existing furniture around the home can instantly make it feel completely different.

Create a spring garden inside your home. Add some cute vases to your indoor plant collection and visit your nearest florist – you never know what gorgeous blooms they have for you! If real flowers are not your thing (#hayfever) then check out our huge range of plants and stems to bring vibrance to your space. We’ve chosen Resene Kia Kaha to complement the Fabian sofa and black elements in this shot.
