Solid Wood Furniture

Wood is a natural material. Veins and knots are part of the nature of the wood and no two pieces of wooden furniture can be totally alike.

  • Keep out of direct sunlight, away from sources of heat and avoid fluctuating humidity in the room where the furniture is kept.
  • The colour and structure of wood can change throughout its life due to such factors as exposure to sunlight and changes in humidity. To avoid discolouration it is recommended that, when not in use, you do not leave objects (such as vases, candle holders etc.) on the surfaces for the first couple of months as the wood adjusts to its new environment.
  • Always protect the wood from hot objects such as mugs, pots etc. by using trivets and coasters.
  • It is best to use coasters under all beverages to avoid water rings from drinks.
  • Wood needs to breathe - do not cover any solid wood with plastic covers or oil cloth for more than 12 hours.
  • Abrasive sponges or detergents should never be used.
  • Depending on the finish of the wood, different methods of maintenance will apply. Please check with your sales adviser on the best method for your particular purchase.
  • Take care of your flooring. Some furniture pieces are heavy and rest on narrow footings which could cause damage to flooring. Consider protecting your floors by using rugs, lifting furniture rather than pushing or dragging and using felt protection pads
Veneer and Lacquer Finishes
  • Keep out of direct sunlight and away from sources of heat.
  • Always protect the surface from hot objects such as mugs, pots etc. by using trivets and coasters.
  • It is best to use coasters under all beverages to avoid water rings from drinks.
  • Dust regularly with a soft colour-fast cloth. Clean any spills immediately. Soiled areas can be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap. Wipe clean and dry immediately. Exposure to moisture can result in damage to the veneer.
  • To avoid discolouration it is recommended that, when not in use, you do not leave objects (such as vases, candle holders etc.) on surfaces for the first couple of months as the furniture adjusts to its new environment.
  • Abrasive sponges or detergents should never be used.
Fabric Furniture
  • Protect from direct sunlight, direct heat and weather. All fabrics can fade over time depending on their exposure to sunlight. All-natural fibre fabrics have a tendency to fade more easily, while synthetic fabrics are more hard-wearing and colour-fast.
  • Periodically clean your furniture with a soft brush or using a low suction vacuum cleaner.
  • It is normal for some fabrics to pill after initial use, which can be easily taken care of using a fabric stone or lint shaver.
  • Blot any food or liquid spills immediately with a dry, colour-fast, clean cloth. Do not use abrasive or harsh chemical cleaners on the fabric. Do not rub.
  • Spot cleaning can be done with an upholstery cleaner, but always test the product and fabric first in an inconspicuous area.
  • If the entire piece requires cleaning, professional upholstery cleaning is recommended.
  • Feather-filled seat cushions and back cushions are designed to be natural, soft and luxurious. They will shift and settle with normal everyday use, gently fluff and re-position the feathers to return the cushions to their original soft shape. Vacuuming can pull feathers through the fabric so we do not recommend vacuuming feather filled products.
Paper Cord Furniture

Paper cord normally requires no maintenance, or very little, as the strong paper cord is
design to last for years. If you would like to clean the seat, you can wipe it with a tightly wrung soft cloth with a neutral, colourless soap solutions. It is not recommended to do this too often as it can unnecessarily cause wear to the paper cord. The paper cord is treated with a thin layer of wax that helps prevent stains. However, discolouration of the paper cord can happen if strong liquids, e.g., red wine, fruit juice or coloured food, are spilled on the yarn.

We recommend cleaning up spills immediately using a tightly wrung soft cloth to
remove as much of the liquid as possible. Be careful not to rub the liquid into
the paper but dab the cloth gently on the area.

Protect from deeply coloured textiles, e.g., a new pair of jeans, to avoid colour transfer.

Never use detergent on paper cord.

Loose Fabric Covers (on Upholstery)

We recommend professional dry-cleaning. Hand washing or delicate cycles may damage or shrink loose covers depending on the machine or method used. Any wash other than dry cleaning is at the sole risk of the customer.

PU Upholstery

Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Use a mild detergent if need be but avoid solvents and using a scourer.

Leather Furniture

It is important to remember that leather is a natural product. Irregularities and wrinkles are signs of genuine leather and should not be considered defects.

  • The appearance of leather will change over time as it wears and is affected by exposure to light as well as use. This ageing generally creates a rich lustre and shine in the leather and is meant to be a positive characteristic of leather.
  • Keep the furniture out of direct sunlight and away from sources of heat to prevent the leather from over-drying and cracking as well as discolouration occurring.
  • Dust your furniture regularly with a clean dry duster.
  • Blot food and liquid spills immediately with a dry, clean, white cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive or harsh chemical cleaners on the leather. Use a soft, clean cloth to wash/wipe the furniture with ezycare or Pelle leather cleaner.
  • Puddling will occur in the seats of well-used leather, giving it a lived-in look and feel. This is the natural stretching of the leather and will stop after the initial tension is released.
  • Treat the leather with a conditioner and protector often.
Metal Furniture

Keep out of direct sunlight & away from sources of heat. Always protect the surface from hot objects such as mugs, pots etc. by using trivets and coasters. Clean any spills immediately. Soiled areas can be cleaned with a soft damp cloth and mild soap. Wipe clean and dry immediately. Abrasive sponges, chemical cleaners or detergents should never be used.

Ceramic Tabletops

Ceramic is a resilient material that requires minimal maintenance. Thanks to the heat-resistant surface, ceramic does not require special cleaning.

  • If any dirty spots appear, simply use a firmly wrung fibre cloth or a piece of paper to wipe the surface clean. Ceramic against ceramic can cause permanent damage to the surface.
  • We recommend that you use a coaster to prevent this.
  • Do not polish with steel wool or any other abrasive cloth.
  • Do not bleach or use acidic cleaning agents, solvents, or steam.
Plastic Chairs

Use a cloth and soapy water to clean. Avoid using a scourer. If used outdoors, cover or reduce exposure where possible. Constant exposure to the sun and elements will speed the deterioration of the product.

Outdoor Furniture

Outdoor furniture should always be kept dry and wiped immediately when it becomes wet.

  • Any metal furniture or metal parts should be cleaned using a soft, damp cloth with non-detergent soap.
  • Fabric cushions can be spot cleaned using a colour-safe cloth and a non-detergent soap.
  • Abrasive sponges or detergents should never be used.
  • Do not clean with high water pressure or water blaster.
  • The lifespan of your furniture will vary in relation to the conditions and type of use. To maximize the lifespan of your product, we recommend that you clean, dry and then store it in a dry, well-ventilated place during winter or harsh weather.
  • Prolonged exposure to direct sun will affect the colour and lifespan of furniture over time.
  • Be careful when covering your furniture. Prolonged contact with any object that can hold moisture (such as a tarp or plastic cover) may damage the appearance of the paint finish.
Wall Art

Your beautiful artwork is heavy and must be hung correctly to avoid damage to the frame.

  • The weight should be evenly distributed so there is not too much pressure on one point.
  • It must be attached to the wall using the fixing provided on the frame and not hung with wire across the frame.
Wool Rugs
  • Rotate your rugs every 3 months to avoid uneven fading and wear.
  • Vacuum using low suction only.
  • Do not use a turbo brush.
  • Avoid pulling loose yarns. If necessary, snip loose ends.
  • Avoid direct sunlight to prevent UV damage or fading.
  • Spot clean as needed with a damp cloth only.
  • Treat stains immediately after a spill and blot wet stains to soak excessive moisture.
  • Consult a professional rug cleaner if necessary.
  • Ask for recommendation from a specialist before using any detergent.

Sit back, relax and enjoy your new purchase!

Sheepskin Beanbags
  • Avoid direct sunlight to prevent fading and UV damage.
  • Regularly shake vigorously to
    restore wool loft.
  • Gently brush as required.
  • Blot spills immediately.
  • Spot clean immediately with wool wash only.
  • Do not rub or brush when damp or wet.
